How was my Earth Hour??

I can’t help but laugh during the Earth Hour. Why? Most of the Filipinos actually thinks that there will be a blackout
felt bad that it did not also happen as what they expected
It actually did not happen accordingly to what it was suppose to be in our town. Few hours before the movement, I stroll to a friend to borrow something. I am passing by some houses and over heard people gossiping that there will be a blackout for one hour. By hearing them, I wanted to go back t them and explain what it is really about, but I am really in a hurry.
I am with a friend discussing some business matters just an hour before the movement. 15 minutes before, I asked my family to turn off the lights for because it is already time. Maybe because of their frustration to me( I’m sort of the black sheep in the family), and Pinoy habit of being a non-believer, they just mocked the idea even after I have explained it to them before as they saw the commercial in the TV. I escorted my friend and continue our discussion about our business to his house. Then walked myself alone home excited about our deal. I noticed that none of the establishment actually have their lights off. Being frustrated because nobody understand the movement, I went home thinking that even my family did not do it. And just as expected, they have all the lights on. I think just to make fun of me. So I turned off every light, and just let them continue watching the TV. So brighten with the lights outside, I did not hesitate to go to our neighbors to ask them and explained about Earth Hour. Luckily, the house with the most lights to avoid burglars, knows about it, it just slipped their minds. Then I cannot believe that I was able to capture the hearts of the houses in our block. Except for idiotic old fashioned losers who did not believe about the movements effect and it is just a nonsense. Well, at lease they are on the street part, so I did not waste my energy debating them.
As I turned back to see darkness, it was a little bit romantic actually. Then went back to our house to rest. My father stepped out to smoke, and my mom, and brother followed him outside. I turned of the TV to complete the darkness, and all he switches and plugs. They keep mocking me for making a fool out of people making them believe what this is worth. So I explained a little and informed them who joined these movements. The conversation actually turned out to be a sermon
And I was laughing silently as hearing them about their frustration to me. Well, I do respect them, but I am a realty a rude guy, but I gave them the moment to spill it all out to me. It started with some tense because they really hated me, but because I just keep them going, and in the end, they were already talking calm about their dreams, problems, experience etc etc. It was really a family moment, but I keep laughing silently in the dark
Don’t get me wrong, but I was really having fun, seeing that forcing them participate in Earth Hour actually gives us this family bonding effect
Earth Hour became a Family Hour
So how was your Earth Hour? Have you already seen the effects?

I didnt saw any lights off! haha.
) I think most Filipinos are not really into it. hindi sila aware sa news and all that, kaunti lang ang taong nagparticipate , only few malls did it (at exception ang Trinoma,. how sad) ayun.. for me, parang hindi sya ganun kasuccessful. i wish maulit ito at lahat na talaga eh magcooperate.
hay nako. dito din sa streets namin. mga ewan sila. hahaha.. bahala nga sila. kami nag participate. but my DAD. hay nako~ kainis. for just an hour eh nagrereklamo. i mean wth is that!? sabi nya pa “para tayong tanga sa ginagawa nyo” with matching kunot ng eyebrows. hahaha. bahal nga sya. wadapak!
The whole family was not home that night. So there weren’t any lights turned on inside our house. Does that count? Haha
how’s my earth hour? hmmm.. natutulog ako. hahaha..
so nakasali ako diba.. ^_^
offtopic:
^_^ hehehe…
Actually none of my family knew about it. But me! Though I didn’t let them know because for me its really is stupid to switch off lights. How can you move and see without lights? we dont have candles here? so we have to keep the lights on kasi we’re still awake at 8 to 9 haha we dont normally sleep that early.
but its good thing what you did to encourange other people to participate.
pangit dito sa amin kasi wla mn lang nag participate.. ay ewan.. hehehe.. during that time halos naka on pa rin yung mga ilaw ng mga kapitbahay namin.. hahah!
Well, we are in the Philippines and is lead by a corrupt government. They will not join any movements if they will not profit any great amount of income from it. If Meralco would be the one to turn their power off, they will lose a huge amount of income. This movement is just for a great cause which doesn’t involve money. And we can still continue this by saving our electricity each and every hour as we could.
Everybody is invited, but only few accepted te invitation.
Hey. I’m just new here in your page. Well, we also did earth hour here in canada.I think Canada saved 7%
of energy and the government was really happy
for that. I guess, most people did that except for some filipino families who just forgot it(here in canada). Even the street lights were off… except for the stop lights because its going to be a problem if they were. It was like a count down in North Vancouver then some people went to West Vancouver just to see how North Van suddenly joined the dark. Well, pretty cool though.
